About Me

Of all the great quotes in the world, it was a nonchalant remark from a friend that changed my life. She said to me, “You remind me of my uncle.” My friend then clarified that I enjoyed talking, listening, and had other qualities that resembled her uncle, who was a counsellor. Since then, my curiosity and passion for counselling grew, as I embarked on a path of self-growth and healing.

Throughout my counselling career thus far, I have mostly worked with university students and working adults. In addition to counselling sessions, I have conducted workshops on topics such as building and maintaining healthy relationships, emotion regulation, and self-care. I also participated as a panellist in a forum on stress management. These experiences helped me to refine my ability to convey different concepts in a manner that is understandable and practical.

The theoretical orientation that guides my work is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I also draw inspiration from the wisdoms of mindfulness based therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). The basis of these schools of therapy is that our thoughts are not always the truth. We can practise taking a step back and evaluate the accuracy or helpfulness of our thoughts. Then, we are able to adopt a more objective perspective on situations, and be more intentional in our responses.

When we respond better, we are then able to build healthier relationships with ourselves and those important to us. Alfred Adler stated that “All problems are interpersonal relationship problems.” and I could not agree more.

When you are ready to journey together to navigate through your situation, I strive to provide a safe and conducive environment for growth and healing to happen.

Experience and education that has prepared me to work with a number of issues, including:

  • Depression and anxiety

  • Relationship issues

  • Grief and loss

  • Trauma

  • Stress management

  • Self-development
