About Me
Carl Rogers once said that “it is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, what experiences have been deeply buried”. Hence, I believe that self-acceptance plays a huge role in therapy because only we ourselves are clear about the issues that we experience in life. While it may be daunting to deal with these issues alone, it is important to know that we are allowed to reach out for help and this is something that I realised through my own struggles in life. This realisation has led me to be a therapist so that I can provide support for those who are in need of it.
My previous clinical experience includes counselling at an established private therapy centre. This experience has allowed me to work with adolescents, middle-aged adults as well as couples from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, working in the service industry has also helped to develop my skills in attentive listening, showing empathy and adaptability, which allows me to navigate through the various issues that my clients experience.
My theoretical orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), where I collaborate with clients to identify their unhelpful core beliefs and explore better ways to cope with them. I also utilise some elements from Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), where I allow clients to freely express their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement. I also enjoy incorporating analogies and stories to help clients better understand the therapeutic concepts and techniques we will use in sessions.
As your therapist, I strive to provide a safe space, free from judgement and discrimination, to talk about your concerns, and bring you one step closer to reducing your issues to a manageable degree. I will also work with you to find your unhelpful core beliefs and reframe them into healthier ones.
